IPL Auction delayed now set for February 20th Ben Stokes expected to attract big money

The IPL Auction will now take place on February 20th when around 150 players will go up for grabs. It was originally expected to take place on 4th Feb, but has been put back, the reason why is a bit of mystery, but something to do with the new regime which has just taken over the BCCI.

News is that Kevin Pieterson will not be putting himself forward after tweeting he has had busy winter. Ben Stokes is being touted as one of the hottest properties on the market and is expected to go for well over 1 Million. No surprise that the top Indian players, headed by Kolhi are of course the highest paid salary earners, so it will be interesting to see if Stokes can break into the top 10, or even top 5.

Certain to play is Sam Billings and Jos Buttler as they have been retained and have contracts. Also in the hat is Jason Roy, Chris Woakes, Chris Jordan Tymal Mills and Alex Hales. New dad Joe Root is staying home. It still seems unclear what Eoin Morgan will do as he has been told by the England that he is expected to Captain the team against Ireland right in the middle of the IPL. The others have been given the all clear to play in the IPL without worrying about the England ODI games against Ireland, or so we are lead to believe anyway.

The IPL is expected to start April 5th with the final on May 21st.
